Aluminum Foil Tape Description

Foil scrim tape has a combined backing of aluminum foil, kraft paper, and fiberglass scrim (lining). Foil-scrim-kraft Tape backing is glass fiber reinforced aluminum foil coated with hot melt adhesive and protected by a silicone paper liner. Foil scrim kraft tape backing is formed by a set of fiberglass yarns, in a transverse arrangement, where these are spaced from each other at a distance of 5mm.The Foil-scrim backing is 18um Aluminum foil laminated with the 2-way scrim 5x5mm.

Foil-scrim-kraft is a flame retardant, vapor-barrier, and it is one of the most commonly used facings in the insulation industry today. Foil scrim tape offers high puncture and tear resistance, ensuring a long life and durability in various conditions and applications. The combined backing properties result in a strong tape that provides a barrier against vapor.

Foil scrim tape is available in different widths and lengths, and it is designed to provide a combination of moisture protection, air sealing, and durability, making it a popular choice for insulation and sealing applications in both residential and commercial settings.

Tape Features:

  • Excellent level of adhesion and performance at higher temperatures.
  • High-strength foil-scrim laminate backing resists tearing.
  • High quality adhesive capable of bonding on a wide variety of substrates in cold climates.
  • High-tack synthetic rubber adhesive forms an instant bond, Vapor barrier.
  • Reflecting heat, reflecting light, and UV-resistant design.

Tape Applications:

HVAC and ductwork sealing: It is widely used for sealing joints, seams, and connections in HVAC systems, ductwork, and insulation materials.

Vapor barrier and air sealing: The aluminum foil layer acts as an effective vapor barrier, preventing moisture intrusion and air leakage in building envelopes, crawl spaces, and insulation systems.

Reflective insulation: The reflective properties of the aluminum foil can help reflect radiant heat, making foil scrim tape useful for insulating pipes, ductwork, and other surfaces where heat reflection is desired.

Industrial and construction applications: The tape’s strength and moisture resistance make it suitable for various industrial and construction applications, such as sealing roofing materials, insulation panels, and temporary repairs.
