Laminated Insulation Facing

Insulation facing is an outer surface of insulation materials. It is additional layer made of reinforced Aluminum foil or PP film. Insulation-facing acts as an additional barrier that helps protect construction from moisture and damage from the elements.

The Insulation-facing provides three valued insulation solutions: thermal protection, vapor barrier, and flame retardant. These qualities, together, helping the insulation system meet building codes, achieve better energy efficiency, and control condensation.

  • Laminated Insulation Facing Introduction

Thermal protection:

The FSK insulation facing (Foil Scrim Kraft Insulation Facing) and reflective insulation systems work by reducing radiant heat gain. Some studies show that FSK insulation facing can reduce cooling costs 5% to 10% when used in a warm, sunny climate.

Vapor barrier:

The Insulation with Foil Facing is often used to limit vapor drive with the ultimate goal of preventing condensation. Insulation with Foil Facing materials are used to minimize vapor drive between the ambient air outside the insulation and the surface of the duct, subsequently preventing condensation from forming on the surface of the duct or the surface of the insulation.

Flame retardant:

The FSK insulation-facing with Aluminum Foil, Tri-directional Fiberglass (3-way scrim) and Kraft paper (50gsm/ 60gsm/ 100gsm). All 3 layers laminated together using a flame-retardant adhesive. Foil Scrim Kraft or FSK Insulation facing is a flame retardant, vapor-barrier, and facings for the insulation industry. FSK insulation-facing is most utilized with duct wrap, duct board and exposed surfaces of HVAC ductworks, exterior walls and ceilings.
