What is HVAC foil tape?

2020-10-31

HVAC foil tapes are single-faced adhesive tape of Aluminum Foil backing which is coated by Pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA).

HVAC foil tape is a special Duct tape use for Thermal Insulation outer wrapping of the Ductworks. (H: heating, V: ventilation, AC: air conditioning).

Aluminum foil as the adhesive tape backing has an thermal insulation performance for HVAC ductworks. The shiny, UV resistant Aluminum foil backing offers an enhanced appearance, excellent reflective and flame retardant properties, and remains flexible to resist cracking and lifting around irregular or curved surfaces.

But the Aluminum foil is too thin, It is easy break because the resistance to external force impact ability is limited. So the various types of HVAC tape backing can be solute this problem:

FSK: Foil-scrim-kraft reinforced Aluminum foil backing for HVAC foil tape.

The middle layer is the Glass fiber layer double side coated with Flame-retardant adhesive, it increased tensile strength of FSK, and the Aluminum foil and Kraft paper are firmly bonded.

PSK: PP-scrim-kraft reinforced Aluminum foil backing for HVAC foil tape.

The middle layer is the Glass fiber layer double side coated with Flame-retardant adhesive, it increased tensile strength of FSK, and the Kraft paper and PP film are firmly bonded.

ASJ: All service Jacket reinforced Aluminum foil backing for HVAC foil tape.

The middle layer is the Glass fiber layer double side coated with Flame-retardant adhesive, it increased tensile strength of ASJ, and the Aluminum foil and White kraft paper are firmly bonded.
